Directions

Using the In-Line Spa System:

  1. With a freshly filled spa establish a bromine or chlorine residual of 1-2 ppm in the spa with an EPA approved spa shock or by other means by following directions of that product before using cartridges.
  2. For the first 24 hours, set the Spa Frog Bromine Cartridge at number 3 by holding the bottom and turning the top until the number 3 appears in the setting window.
  3. To Install: Open cap of in-line system. Snap cartridge into "Bromine Only" section. Make sure to line up indent on cartridge with raised line on holder. After cartridge is snapped in, replace holder by lining up arrow on holder with arrow on system lip, push down and lock in place. Replace cap. Initially monitor bromine levels daily until a 2-4 ppm residual is achieved. Remove and adjust to maintain bromine levels depending on spa size and use.

Using the Floating Spa System:

  1. With a freshly filled spa establish a bromine or chlorine residual of 1-2 ppm in the spa with an EPA approved spa shock or by other means by following directions of that product before using cartridge.
  2. For the first 24 hours set the Spa Frog Bromine Cartridge at number 5 by holding the bottom and turning the top until the number 5 appears in the setting window.
  3. Push the cartridge into the bottom opening of the Floating Spa System.
  4. Set entire system in the spa water.
  5. Initially monitor bromine levels daily until a 2-4 ppm residual is achieved.
  6. Then adjust to maintain bromine level depending on spa size and use.

Using a Free Floating Sanitizer:

  1. Set cartridge as described for the Floating Spa System and allow to free float in spa.

For All Uses:

  1. Adjusting to a higher setting will increase the bromine output while a lower setting will decrease it.
  2. When empty follow disposal instructions and replace with a new Spa Frog Bromine Cartridge.

PRODUCT FAQ'S

For pools, add a stabilizer or conditioner if the level is below 20 ppm. Follow the manufacturer’s directions. Algaecides are also helpful.

For spas, clarifiers can be helpful for occasional cloudy water.

Ionizers due to the duplication of minerals and biguinides like Baquacil that are not compatible with chlorine or bromine.

Total chlorine is the total amount of chlorine in the water. When chlorine binds up with contaminants it forms a compound called “chloramines” that are still part of the total but no longer effective. The chlorine that is still active to remove contaminants is known as free. When the chloramine level is higher than the free chlorine level (subtract free number from total), then you need to shock the water.

Silver and limestone. The silver destroys bacteria and the limestone absorbs acids from chemicals like chlorine to help maintain a neutral pH.

For pools, FROG minerals last six months or one pool season whichever is shorter. Once removed from the water, the minerals may not be reused the following season. For spas, FROG minerals last 4 months. Simply replace every four months or whenever you drain and fill your spa.

Water supplies contain different levels of natural minerals like iron, copper or magnesium. These minerals must be removed from the water with a Metal Out or Sequestering Agent (see your dealer) to ensure easier balancing and proper sanitation. If using our FROG Mineral products, make sure you remove the natural water minerals at start up only and wait 24 hours to clean the filter before using the FROG minerals.
